Technological measures

A work could be protected by technological measures. Examples of technological measures are passwords, encryption, a paywall or copy protection.

The Dutch Copyright Act describes technological measures as technology that restricts or prevents actions for which the copyright holder has not granted permission.

Anyone who circumvents or cracks such technological measures and knows (or ought to know) they have done so, is acting in contravention of the Dutch Copyright Act. This is then piracy or breach of copyright.
